TWIS #15

This week in science we started from the beginning and what i mean about that is we all started off the year with our very first science project "the marshmellow challange" and at first we were all confused on what to do but  after a couple of times we learned from our mistakes. finnally we built something stable. it was really fun doing something over again and the more intresting part was doing it with the same people from your first group activity.

This week i learned how to work together as a whole group again. i learned how to balance out a marshmello on a spagetti stick and the whole thing was so fun and i would really enjoy doing anytime again. what i also learned this week is on how mch i have grown from the beginning of the year to now and it is a great improvement.

my ability to work in groups for the marshmellow challenge has gotten better over the few times we did it. ever time we do it i think of an idea better than the one before. i am much better at working in grups because over the time of school my class and i have many chances to work in groups. i like working in groups because sometimes people have amazing idea that you would have never thought about.

This Year in Science - 10th Grade Intro Video

my name is zaria rivera, i like science it one of my intresting subjects. i would alway look foward to do a new science project. i would get really excited when i was younger about going to science , i think i was n 4th grade and i remember a project i did for a science fair with reflection what i had was a bunch of tiny mirrors set up to reflect each other and i put a mini lazer in the box with the  mirror i turned it on and it was the most amazing thing to me at the moment and thats when i started with science. now from the beginning of the year   from now i think i have grown to appriciate science alittle more rhan before. this year n science we did alot of crazzii fun stuff but the most speciL THING I  enjoyed wat discecting a mouse i alwaii wanted to dicect something other then a owl pellet but the experience was fun. but during the middle of the year i was struggling with work but i started to pck tht back up. if my future teacher is listen i just want u to know that in the  beginning u ay think im a crazzie child but im juat hyper nd happy and i start to grow on you . soo thts it bye

This week in science we had to close up the spider habitat with plastic wrap so that it would be similar to an enviroment, like a rain forest. Before we had to do that my group and I had to make sure there was enough food (flightless fruit flies) and the tank had enough water in it so that the water cycle could happen. After all that happen we planted spinach seed in the dirt if the tank and we are still waiting for it to grow. That is when we put the wrap on top to ceil the tank.

I learned that in a controlled environment if you put water in it  and ciel the enviroment evaporation will happen and you will even see it happening on the side to. Ive also learned that the spider doesnt eat one fly at a time it will gather 2 to 3 at once spin them together then wait and eat it.

This week in science we had to make a habitat for spider so my group and I went to a park to find things to put in our habitat box. While finding things we found a few earth worms and mellipeds so we put them in the box too. After we got back we set the whole thing up nice and cool. The spider like dark and damp places. They also like shade alot.

This week i learned that not all spiders like the same things. Most of them like shady damp places. They keep buggs in their webs. It  would be hard to find any spider just to look outside

TWIS #5

This week in science we learned about the behaviors of crickets and of a little of other animals, but mostly about the crickets. They have a interesting behavior , they make sounds when the aren't moved around in their tank. We also learned about an endangered animal in new zealand. The bird was trying to mate with an camera man. At first we thought it was attacking him , but after reading the capitions it was really mating with him. The crickets are very active with each other, we even saw a few dead once that look all dried up.

What I learned...

Mission Challenge: Classification

This is a Loligo vulgaris squid, it has 8 tentacles and 2 arms. The tentacles are longer than its arms and had suckers at the tips only. They have skin covered in chromatophores, which allows it to change its color to blend in with its surround .It also has a siphon which use to suck in the water and sqirt it in a fast ,string jet which is kind of like a jet propulsion. It can also release from its ink sacto scare away or confuse it's predators. This squid eats shrimp, fish and other small marine animals.

Cricket Behavior Investigation

Question:Do cricket perfer wet or dry environment?

Hypothesis:Crickets prefer dry environment because the sound they make is most often heard at night when crickets are most active, ... into a moist environment to eat or lay eggs, but they must be able to retreat to dry ground
